Cleaning the Blood Off Your Face
Baldur's Gate 3 is nothing if not immersive, but the vivid realism of post-battle blood spatter can leave your character looking more like a walking Jackson Pollock painting. Nothing says "trust me" like a face splattered with goblin entrails. Thankfully, the game gives you a way to clean up your act—literally—so you can look less like a murder hobo and more like the hero (or anti-hero) you're meant to be.
As expected, a Long Rest will leave you fresh and clean in the morning. But what about during the middle of your adventuring day? Enter the humble bar of soap, the trusty sponge, or even the lavish sponge tray. I make it a point to equip all my characters with one of these hygiene essentials.
The first bar of soap I stumbled upon was at Waukeen's Rest in Act 1. It's a miracle worker, instantly wiping away the blood spatter so you can show up to the next cutscene without looking like you just auditioned for Sweeney Todd. No more accidentally intimidating NPCs when you're just trying to negotiate a discount.
While the sponge and sponge tray have a touch of elegance, the soap bar—or the Holy Hand Soap (sold by Mattis in Rivington)—offers unparalleled convenience. Neither uses an Action so you can clean off any dirt or blood mid-combat while plotting your next brilliant move. After all, why wait for the battle to end when you can sparkle now? Whether you're digging through your inventory for the perfect scroll or preparing to unleash a divine smite, a quick scrub keeps you looking sharp and ready for whatever drama the Sword Coast throws your way.
